The beaches and year-round waterfront living are a big reason people move to Florida. About the time that Arthur Vining Davis came to Boca Raton in the late 1950's is when major development and growth started taking place. Naturally the premier waterfront locations were cherry-picked first for exclusive single family homes and mid- to high-rise condominiums. Today there are very few vacant lots left in these areas. Many of the homes and condos have undergone large-scale renovations to update decor and appeal.
A major trend for the waterfront homes in these intracoastal communities is to tear them down and build new construction, which has resulted in the availability of a substantial number of new homes. The condominium communities are generally located directly along the oceanfront in Boca Raton and Highland Beach. The communities that line the intracoastal are only minutes from Boca Raton's 5 miles of beautiful beaches and 4 major parks - Spanish River Park, Red Reef Park, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and South Inlet Park. The Boca Raton Resort & Club is a hotel and private club that provides premier facilities for all residents of the area and second home vacationers, including golf and tennis.

Other East Boca Communities
The City of Boca Raton's master plan was geared to more low density development,
so much of the remaining communities west to I-95 are small single family
homes, with some multi-family and townhomes sprinkled in between. Prices
range from just under $75,000 for multi-family and from just under $100,000
for single family, and generally up to approximately $450,000 in Camino
Gardens, a small community of homes offering canal front homes with access
off the El Rio Canal.
