medical centers - the Boca
Raton Community Hospital, West
Boca Medical Center and Delray Community Hospital.
Other healthcare facilities include walk-in clinics
and outpatient clinics for minor medical problems,
and specialized clinics that provide treatment for
cancer, sleep disorders, habilitation for the handicapped,
senior's and men's health, and community blood banks.
Several medical centers remain open later in the evenings
and on weekends to help serve the professional population.
In addition, there are also other organizations that
provide quality social and psychological services.

Seventeen medical centers and specialty hospitals
provide state-of-the-art medical care to the residents
of Palm Beach County. Most of the major medical centers
are general acute care hospitals that provide a full
range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical
services. Each hospital then has certain areas that
they provide more sophisticated and specialized services
and treatment , such as cancer, trauma, cardiac, maternity,
pediatric emergency medicine, women's services, orthopedics,
psychiatric and addictive disorders, plus many others.
Many of the hospitals provide physician referral services
to assist residents in finding family physicians or
specialists to meet their needs. The Palm Beach County
Medical Society also offers a physician referral service.
Seniors moving into this area and seeking a lifestyle
which provides a more organized approach to retirement
living or who may require additional services, may
rest assured that there are a number of communities
and residential centers available which provide a
wide array of services and assistance. Additionally,
many government, non-profit and private organizations
are available to assist seniors.
Numerous retirement and nursing facilities, along
with government sponsored senior citizen centers,
provide health care opportunities for mature adults.
Individuals requiring skilled nursing care may choose
from approximately 45 nursing homes in the county.

that provide assisted living for seniors who do not
